Dining Room

I don’t know what it is but I find your little windows you had in the kitchen and this one in the dining room so charming.

Once all your beautiful plants were removed, this room felt a bit drab. While I love plants I think the room itself should carry most of the responsibility of beauty and when the plants come back in they should be complemented by the room, not doing all the heavy lifting to hide it.

Option A

Option B

Here are my suggestions for option A:

  1. I know you’re probably annoyed with me for the blue cabinetry but I had to give them a chance to earn back some credibility that they can be beautiful! These are painted Sherwin Williams Smoke and I think it could be such a fun underdog story of the blue not working out in the kitchen but displayed in all its glory in the dining room

  2. I added a jute roller shade on the window just to beef it up a bit

  3. This light fixture from West Elm (but there are sooo many out there that look similar if you want to go for a more budget friendly selection)

  4. Above the bar I have added an imbedded beam on the overhead casing - this will both add intrigue to that bar and it will carry the reclaimed wood beam theme from the kitchen into the dining room

  5. With the addition of the beam I removed the pendant lights that previously hung over the bar

  6. I added a simple rug from Amber Interiors to pull in the texture from the jute roller shade

Here are my suggestions for option B:

  1. The back wall is so bare that it needs something so in this option it is 1/4 wall wainscoting painted to match your kitchen cabinets and above the wainscoting is the color Warm Stone by Sherwin Williams

  2. The wall is still quite bare so you could add in coordinating prints or mirrors on either side of the window to fill the space or maybe even some unique shelving to home your plant babies

I want to sincerely thank you for trusting me to transform these spaces. I truly hope these won’t be dormant ideas but that they would excite you and spur you on to create the home you deserve.
